Free Half-Term Bushcraft Adventure for 11-17 Year Olds from Oswestry.

In partnership with Oswestry Youth Forum, Oswestry Town Council, and Shropshire Youth Association, Woodland Roots is excited to again offer two completely free bushcraft sessions on Friday 25th, April, exclusively for 11-17 Year Olds from Oswestry!

Get outdoors and explore essential bushcraft skills in a hands-on, adventure-filled session. Work as a team, learn new skills, and enjoy the fresh air in the beautiful countryside just outside Oswestry.

Who’s It For

  • Session 1 - 9:30 - 13:00: Recommended for ages 11–13, focusing on foundational skills and exploration.

  • Session 2 - 13:30 - 17:00: Ideal for ages 14–17, with more advanced skills and challenges.

What You’ll Learn

  • Fire Lighting: Master the essentials of fire building using natural materials and a firesteel.

  • Shelter Building: Create a sturdy tarp shelter and learn useful knots.

  • Nature Skills: Discover different local trees in an interactive exploration.

  • Tool Skills: Safely handle bushcraft tools for crafting.

  • Team Challenges: Build confidence and teamwork with exciting outdoor problem-solving activities.

Where Is It

The course will take place on the Llanforda Estate, just a 9 minute drive outside Oswestry. Exact details will be shared after booking.

What We Provide

  • All tools and equipment.

  • Healthy snacks and drinking water.

  • Taught by qualified, DBS-checked, fully-insured, and outdoor first aid trained instructors.

What You Need To Bring

  • Suitable outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear - we’ll be outside, whatever the weather!

  • A drinks bottle and any personal items you may require.

  • A sense of adventure!
